On Saturday, Sept. 17, The Santa Monica College (SMC) Corsair Football team faced off the Compton College (CC) Tartars for their second game of the season. The Tartars were first to score in the game during the first quarter as Quarterback Titan Widjaja throws a 15-yard pass touchdown to Malachi Betters leading 6-0. After a rough start to the game the Corsairs are still deemed to win the game.
During the second quarter of the game, the Corsairs respond with a strong offensive team and getting a first down on their first run. However, in the second down, Corsair quarterback Forrest Brock throws a pass that would be intercepted from Tartars defensive back Robert Jones and returned for a 31-yard touchdown. At the end of the first half the score is led by the Tartars 12-0 which would also be the final score of the game.
During the second half of the game, both teams would show a strong defensive team not allowing anymore scores with the Tartars having a much more dominant team. Although the Corsairs showed up to play with a talented team, the Tartars had a stronger team that lead them the win.
The Corsairs will face off Orange Coast College next on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Orange Coast.
