Another Conference Win and Shutout for The Corsairs
The Santa Monica College Corsairs (9-2-3) played the Antelope Valley College Marauders (3-9-1) at the Corsair Field on Tuesday. With two victories at Citrus, and their defeat of the Marauders, the men’s soccer team moves to 2-0 in conference and is currently second in conference stands.
In the first half, Corsairs’ forward Jay'ce Jones scored with an assist from midfielder Adrian Garcia in the 20th minute. With several shots attempted above the crossbar, the Corsairs were unable to score in the second half.
The team continues conference play with a match against the Bakersfield College Renegades at Bakersfield College on Friday at 4 p.m. Bakersfield currently stands first in the Western State-South Conference at 2-0-1. If the Corsairs are able to defeat the Renegades, they will move up to first place in conference standings.
