Corsair Football Suffers Tough Loss at Chaffey College

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. - The Santa Monica College Corsairs’ football team lost to the undefeated Chaffey College Panthers 54-7 on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Grigsby Field in Rancho Cucamonga. After Chaffey scored early touchdowns in the first quarter and extended their strong start throughout the game, Santa Monica remained scoreless until the fourth quarter. Wide receiver Sean Grier (9) caught a 38-yard pass from quarterback Avery Boe (5), securing his second touchdown of the season.

“We didn’t play our stellar football. We made too many penalties. We turned the ball over early, which put us behind,” said head coach Kelly Ledwith. “Then it was just a big hole to climb out of.”

The Corsairs (2-1) play next at home on Saturday, September 28 against the Santa Ana Dons (2-1) at 1 p.m.
