Corsairs shine on a cloudy morning
On Wednesday, March 26, the Santa Monica College (SMC) Corsairs played a double-matchup against the Cypress College (CC) Chargers and the Lassen Community College (LCC) Cougars, defeating both teams in a 5-0 sweep moving to 12-5 overall, and extending their winning streak to four games.
The Corsairs from the start led the charge against the Chargers, winning matchups at the net. Corsairs’ blocker Allison Horin was dominant at the net throughout the game, continually making kills over the Chargers’ defense.
Strong communication between Corsair split Sadie Town and split Eden Lorin led to a strong showing in their set against the Chargers. The pair were able to make targeted placements of the ball, which helped the pair soundly defeat the Chargers, 5-0.
During the second match against the Cougars, the Corsairs continued their dominant play. Winning the battle at the net with crucial plays like that of Corsair split Samatha Harvey’s dig when returning the Cougars’ serve. This led to the eventual 5-0 sweep in favor of the Corsairs.
The Corsairs’ next games are Friday, April 4, against Glendale Community College and Santa Barbara Community College at Ocean Park.
