Fashion Friday
Who cares what people think about your outfit? Be bold and express yourself! Name: Carrington Armstead
Major: Fashion
Hometown: Los Angeles, Calif.
Wearing: Skirt from Urban Outfitters, the sweater is her boyfriend's, ring from Claire's and bag from American Eagle.
How would you describe your style?
I would say my style is relaxed and chic, but at the same time very inspired by urban. I usually go with very tight clothes or something that is really flowy and loose. I have been trying following different trends, but I just feel more comfortable when I have my own style and wear whatever feels right.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Actually, I don't get very inspired by things. I just wake up and put on whatever feels right at the time. What I'm wearing depends a lot on the weather so I guess I can say that is my inspiration.
Do you care what others think about your clothes?
No, I could not care less. One day I can wear something considered very fashion forward, and the next day I'm wearing big nerdy glasses. I just like to have my own style and wear what I think looks good; that's all that matters.
Major: Child development
Hometown: Los Angeles, Calif.
Wearing: Dress from Zara, vintage jacket, shoes from Steve Madden, bag from Marc Jacobs and watch from Michael Kors.
How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as a modern look with a touch of hipster. For example, wearing a dress and tone it down with something like this jacket and a pair of boots. I would also say that my clothes are very casual and fashion forward.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I am very inspired by magazines, especially Vogue. I buy a lot of Vogue magazines. I also find blogs and Instagram accounts to be very good source for inspiration.
Do you care what others think about your clothes?
I don't care at all. What I am wearing is my way to express myself, so what other people think is, to me, very irrelevant.
Major: Fashion
Hometown: Sweden
Wearing: T-shirt from Acne, pants from Zara, shoes by Converse and a bag from an Indian tribe in Morocco.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I get most of my inspiration by reading blogs. My favorites are Fashiontoast.com and Sincerelyjules.com.
Do you care what others think about your clothes?
No, I don't. Since I have a very simple, classic and comfortable style, I don't care at all.
Why did you decide to study fashion?
I always wanted to become a fashion designer and design my own basic clothes. Since I grew up with a mother who was involved in the business, it was very natural for me to follow her in that direction. Studying fashion here at Santa Monica College will provide me more knowledge about how the industry works and what is it like which I think will help me making my dreams come true.
