SMC student dies in traffic accident

At 2:25 a.m. on Friday, April 22, a Santa Monica College student named James Henrey Freimann, 19-years-old, died in a traffic accident on his way home from a friend's house, evidently. His vehicle crashed into a semi-trailer truck.

"I knew James since I was four years old," said Ryan Maggio, 20, a friend of Freimann. "We were in school together from kindergarten to eighth grade."

Details about the circumstances leading up to the traffic accident are not yet known, and Freimann's toxicology report has not yet been publicly released.

His family could not be reached for comment.

"His mom is wrecked," said Maggio. "I went over the night it happened, and when I came in, she collapsed.

"She laid in bed all Easter," said Maggio.

According to Maggio, Freimann enjoyed playing baseball as a second-baseman, as well as video games; but what he loved more than these two hobbies were his family and friends.

"He was never alone. He would always be with his friends or family. I can't remember him ever being by himself," said Maggio.

Friends and family will be attending his viewing and services at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 2323 Las Lomitas Drive, Hacienda Heights 91745. The viewing will be Thursday, April 28 at 7 p.m. and the funeral services will be Friday, April 29 at 10 a.m.
