UPDATE: Another victim dies in hospital

Marcela Franco, daughter of rampage shooting victim Carlos Navarro Franco, died Sunday morning at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, according to an email sent out by Santa Monica College President and Superintendent Chui L. Tsang. "Her family was by her side," Tsang said in his message to the college community. "Our deepest sympathies go to the Franco family. At the appropriate time, the college will convene a campus-wide memorial."

Marcela Franco, 26, was riding in the passenger seat of her father's red Ford Explorer when 23-year-old gunman John Zawahri shot at their vehicle. Her father was killed at the scene, and she was critically wounded and put on life support.

Her passing brings the death toll to six, including Zawahri, who was shot down by police in the SMC library on Friday.

Marcela Franco was enrolled in Summer classes at SMC, where her father worked as a groundskeeper.

The SMC Foundation created the Carlos Franco Family Memorial Fund in honor of Carlos and his family.

Donations can be made online at foundation.smc.edu/FrancoMemorial, or by mail to the SMC Foundation, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405.

A candlelight vigil will be held in memory of the victims on Monday at 6 p.m. in front of the library on the SMC main campus.
