Stabbing on pier implicates five
Four adults and a minor were arrested for attempted homicide after being involved in an altercation on the Santa Monica Pier early yesterday morning. Around 1:20 a.m. on a fishing deck at the west end of the pier, an argument broke out between the five suspects and two victims, according to a press release from Santa Monica Police Sgt. Jay Moroso. The argument became physical and the five began stabbing the two, each multiple times in the arms and torso.
The four adults were detained shortly after with bail set at $1 million each. The minor is in juvenile hall with no bail.
The victims were transported to a local hospital, where one was sent to surgery for their wounds. They are both expected to survive.
The suspects involved are Araik Ovoian, 24, Gevork Bagdasaryan, 19, Alex Akob Akbari, 18, Agavni Manukyan, 21, and the minor, 16.
