In case these passed you by, here is a recap of recent events on campus over the last week. Monday October 27

At the weekly Associated Students meeting, the position of Secretary was filled by Keshia Johnson after weeks of searching. The position of Student Advocacy recently vacated by Diana Gutierrez remains vacant.

Tuesday October 28

The AS gave out free ice cream to AS members from King Kone. The giveaway was called I-Scream Fest and intended to raise spirits in advance of Club Row.

Wednesday October 29

Former Director of Student Advocacy Diana Gutierrez took to the quad with former SMC student/current UCLA student Areli Rios to call for administration to step in and control the actions of the dean of student life in relation to the AS board of directors. Allegations in their briefing were bribery, withholding of records, and causing mental health issues with students, among others.

On a related note, Vice President of Student Affairs Mike Tuitasi released a statement concerning a report spread through social media that a student attempted suicide the day before. The statement assured that no person attempted suicide on campus and that anyone who is responsible for circulating the "false and malicious information will face discipline for violation of the Student Conduct Code."
