Twilight Concert Series Returns to Santa Monica
Every year, the Twilight Concert Series makes summer a magical time for concert-goers at the Santa Monica Pier. The free concerts offer an eclectic collection of artists from around the globe who draw a diverse crowd. Everything from classical and indie pop to swing and jazz acts can be heard.
Thursday August 4 was no exception as Colombian group Monsieur Periné and Latin Grammy Award Winner Natalia Lafourcade continued the tradition of exceptional performances which have been free to the public for the past 32 years.
Monsieur Periné started off the evening with a mix of Latin swing and gypsy jazz that got the crowd moving for almost two full hours. While for the last act of the night, lyrical soprano, Natalia Lafourcade truly captured the audience with her unique style of Spanish folk-rock. She enamored the audience with her Mexican boleros having her fans sing some of the main chorus of her songs. As the night was ending, the Spanish lyrics and flowers circling around the audience sealed a night of love among the pier.
The Twilight Concert Series will run for ten weeks this summer on every Thursday through September 8. If you haven't made it out, there’s still another five weeks left to watch the acts up close or bring your picnic basket and enjoy the show with the sunset as a backdrop.
