The Twilight Summer Concert Series are back with a whole new look, and a new name to match: Twilight on the Pier. The improved series is taking place on Wednesday evenings for the next three weeks. Originally commenced back in 1984, concerts originally took place during the summer in Santa Monica.

As the bee population crisis has shuffled into the consciousness of Californians in recent years, a captivating film screening makes its way to Santa Monica College with prevalent timing. On Tuesday evening, Sept. 25th, Vanishing of the Bees - a documentary directed by Markus Imhoof - will be shown at the Center for Media and Design Campus.

Writer Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman, the team behind 2007's Juno, have reunited for Tully, a powerful film about motherhood. Charlize Theron plays Marlo, an overworked, stressed-out mother of three with an absent husband (Ron Livingston) whose routine involves going to work, coming home to help the kids with their homework, and preferring to play on his Xbox rather than asking his wife how her day was.

At the end of the almost hour and a half documentary, the entire theater, some with tears in their eyes, gave a standing ovation not just to the directors of "Skid Row Marathon", but also to those whose struggles and triumphs they had just witnessed. The event, a screening of the documentary, "Skid Row Marathon", was held at the Regal LA Live Theater in Downtown Los Angeles on Friday, March 16th and hosted by KTLA’s Mary Beth McDade.

The documentary, which took four and a half years to make, tells the story of Judge Mitchell, a criminal court judge who starts a running club with residents from a homeless shelter on Skid Row, leading to the unlikely group to run marathons around the world. The film follows them on early-morning training runs around L.A. to marathons in Accra, Ghana and Rome, Italy.

The highly anticipated film of the year is finally here. When Captain America: Civil War premiered on May 6, 2016 revealing a Black Panther addition to the Marvel series, moviegoers anxiously awaited for its release on Feb. 16, 2018, and it has lived up to the hype. From the costumes, to the massive sets, the film is quite a visual experience.

Thor: Ragnorok is the series' best film yet, bringing super hero humor and epic fighting scenes to a whole new level. The film may be less of a superhero movie and more of a comedy with film director Taika Waititi’s humor written all over it.

Hip Pop Rapper Hoodie Allen dropped his most recent album The Hype on Friday, September 29th. “I think Hoodie’s new album is so creative. I always found myself getting lost in the music throughout the album. Every track was so different, and you can see the hard work put into creating the project,” Hoodie Allen fan, Evan Brown-Bacchus said.

Another Classic Rock Station Bites the Dust

The long awaited sequel is both extremely ambitious and frustratingly underwhelming.

After a very intense month of rehearsal, ranging from four to six hours a day, the cast of Moon Over Buffalo took to the Theater Arts main stage at Santa Monica College on Thursday September 28, 2017, for their preview showing. It takes place in 1953 and is about the madcap comedy, Moon Over Buffalo. 

On the evening of Tuesday, September 26th, Santa Monica College hosted a screening of the documentary West Los. “I’m not Charlie from Culver City, I’m just Charlie.” Charlie Chacon, a first time filmmaker from Culver City, says this to highlight why he is making this documentary. He has spent the last three years trying to create a film about how the lowrider culture within West Los Angeles was a way to unite former rival neighborhoods.
