Corsairs Get Sacked In Conference Opener

The Santa Monica College Corsairs football team took the field against the Antelope Valley College Marauders on Saturday in their conference home opener. Down 29-14 with one quarter of play left, the Corsairs narrowed the lead to 36-31 on scoring receptions from Tariq Brown and Richard Kick before a heartbreaking endzone interception on the final play of the game ended come back short.
Freshman quarterback Sam Vaulton was harassed by the Marauders defense, taking 8 sacks in the game. Despite the constant pressure, he went 32-49 for 408 passing yards, scoring 3 touchdowns and throwing one interception. It was his second consecutive 400+ yard effort. Tariq Brown led the Corsairs with 210 receiving yards on 10 receptions, and scoring 2 touchdowns.
Next Saturday, the Corsairs take on conference foe, at Los Angeles Pierce College at 6 pm.
