Corsairs tie in women's soccer match against Citrus College.
The tension was heavy at Corsair Field on Friday, Oct. 13, as the Santa Monica College Corsairs women’s soccer team played against the Citrus College Owls. They tied 1-1.
The Corsairs brought energy to the field, playing hard but finishing the first half tied at zero.
At the start of the second half, it was anybody's game. Forward Alinna Savaterre scored the first goal of the game at 66 minutes. Four minutes later, Owl goalkeeper Maddy Moris scored the game-tying goal with a penalty kick.
The Corsairs played amazing defense, making it extremely hard for the Owls to one-up them at any point in the game. They finished off the second half tied at 1-1.
Although this was not a loss, the results left both players and coaches frustrated. “Soccer is what it is sometimes. You have to deal with adverse situations, you have to find a way to win. We didn’t have it in us today to get the full three points," said head coach Aaron Benditson.
