Corsairs Swept by the Vaqueros
The Santa Monica College Corsairs women’s volleyball team (7-6) lost in a thrilling match in the Corsair Gym against Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros (10-2), 3-0 this past Friday, September 27.
In the first set, the Corsairs’ hustle was persistent, but the Vaqueros’ quickly picked up their rhythm, taking the first set 25-20. The Corsairs continued to fight in the following sets, but couldn’t outlast the momentum of the Vaqueros, losing sets two and three 25-17 and 25-19.
Santa Barbara took home the win, responding to the Corsair’s tactics with a game plan that resulted in a sweep.
Even though the Corsair’s fell short in this match, they begin conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Glendale City College.
