Corsairs’ Water Polo Continues to Fall Short
Santa Monica, Calif. - The Santa Monica College men’s water polo team, the Corsairs (0-10), hosted two home matches against the Las Positas College Hawks (6-6) and the Palomar College Comets (3-7) at the Santa Monica College Swim Center last Friday, Sept. 27. Despite having the home game advantage, the Corsairs lost both matches, 9-16 and 11-16 . Utility Owen Grant led the Corsairs in the first match against the Hawks with five goals, followed by Utility Islam Bashirov with two goals and two steals. In their second match, Grant continued to score big, with four goals closely followed by Bashirov with three more goals. The Corsairs continued relentlessly and pushed through each match, but their efforts resulted in two defeats.
The Corsairs (0-10) begin conference play when they face the Ventura College Pirates on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at home.
