Gavin quinton

Gavin Quinton is a journalism student and SMC sophomore interested in investigative journalism, news, science journalism, and filmmaking. Outside of writing for The Corsair, he enjoys playing music, studying history, and being with friends and family.

Maxim Elramsisy is a photojournalist from Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he studied Neuroscience and Music. He enjoys snowboarding, gaming, and playing with his son, August.

Celso Robles is a student-journalist from Mid-City, Los Angeles. This spring term marks his second consecutive semester as the Sports Editor for The Corsair. He is also on the SMC Men’s Football Spring offseason roster and hopes to make the team by the Fall.

Andrea Marcy is a new writer for The Corsair. She is a photographer, enjoys the outdoors, and learning new skills. In the fall of 2022, she will be transferring to CSU Long Beach as a PR major with an AA-T in Journalism.

Sophia is a second year Journalism student at SMC, with a strong interest in entertainment, fashion, arts and culture. After growing up in Las Vegas an entertainment capital she quickly realized she wanted to be a writer and journalist. She works at Los Angeles Fashion week and enjoys exploring the city, meeting new people, fashion blogging and creative writing.

Emily Miedema is a sophomore at Santa Monica College, and a new voice to Corsair. She will be transferring in the fall with an AA-T in Journalism and an AA in Multimedia Storytelling. She enjoys writing about environmental issues and producing multimedia content.

Marc Federici is a lifelong photographer pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Journalism. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he has attended Santa Monica College for two years and is currently enjoying his first semester working with The Corsair. Aaron Schuchman is excited to be part of the The Corsair for the Spring 2022 Semester! In addition to receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Writing and Editing from Arizona State University, he also has basic knowledge with coding and design programs including Sublime Text as well as Adobe Indesign and Photoshop and is excited to bring all of these skills and knowledge to The Corsair!

Kyle Penix is a current senior at UC Riverside majoring in Media & Cultural Studies. He’s an aspiring producer, writer, host and entertainment journalist. He enjoys writing about a variety of topics and hopes to actively contribute to several of The Corsair’s sections, primarily Arts & Entertainment and Culture. His favorite hobbies are playing video games, spending time outdoors, traveling and listening to music.

Nick has worked as a sound mixer, boom operator, carpenter, in an archive, and in accounting. He currently does background acting. He has a BA in Cinema-TV and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. Nick lives in Koreatown and has been in Los Angeles since 2000.

Alexandra Barrett is a 23-year-old, first-year journalist who has dedicated her time to focusing on investigative journalism with a background in Psychology. Alexandra has spent the majority of her adult life passionate about finding the truth, especially involving business, medical or educational issues. Moving around from coast to coast and traveling to more than 5 countries, Alexandra has a very open mind to both sides of the spectrum of politics.
