Efforts towards providing equal pay between genders were set back on August 28, 2017, when the Trump administration halted an Obama-era rule requiring businesses to report their employees' wages by gender, race, and ethnicity. The administration argued that the data collection requirement would be both "enormously burdensome" to companies and ineffective in addressing the gender wage gap.

On Friday March 10 2017, hundreds of local activists took to the streets of Downtown Los Angeles to protest against against the newly-approved Dakota Access Pipeline.

On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, women gathered across the street from the Los Angeles City Hall for a rally held by The Women’s March foundation. The day was called “A Day Without a Woman.”

“Make America Great?” a film written and directed by Candice Vernon, was screened at the Cayton Center at Santa Monica College on February 23.
