Candidates for the 2023 Associated Students (A.S.) election participated in a virtual forum hosted by The Corsair on Tuesday morning.

The elections for the A.S. Board of Directors will run from April 3 to April 6.

The Associated Students (A.S.) is holding a special election this May to fill in the five roles left empty after the previous general election and to approve constitutional revisions.

On Friday, April 8 the results for the Santa Monica College 2022 Associated Students (A.S.) Election were announced.

The Corsair is holding a Candidate Forum for the Santa Monica College’s (SMC) student government, Associated Students (A.S.), elections this Monday, April 4, at 1 p.m.

Associated Students (A.S.), the student-led government responsible for representing Santa Monica College's student body, is a critical part of student representation and decision-making.

Santa Monica College's (SMC) Associated Students (A.S.) are currently planning the school's first Indigenous Peoples' Day event on the main campus. A.S. hopes to bring an event that focuses more on the celebration of Indigenous people rather than Christopher Columbus.

Two days into the Associated Students election, Santa Monica College’s election committee gathered in the Cayton Center’s conference room. Three violations were discussed, one of which resulted in one A.S. candidate being reported to the campus disciplinarian for allegations of a threat.

The student ID card and A.S. fees are still optional, but not if you pay online.

March 16 is the last day for SMC students to submit candidate paperwork.

Sandoval will take the position that was left vacant after the previous vice president, Edgar Gonzalez, resigned in February. 

Jennifer Chen, 22, a business marketing major and the Associated Students president-elect for the 2017-2018 school year, is the first Asian-American female student to be elected since 2010.

The Associated Students live streamed an open panel discussion via Facebook on Wednesday, April 5. Their priorities were to release information about the improvements that A.S. has made, to address concerns they have about the candidates running for the new A.S. board, and to answer questions from other students.
